3.- Neuropsychological evaluation.
The older you are, the more likely you are to have memory disturbances, and these can range from mild and sporadic forgetfulness to progressive and disabling processes. Therefore, it is important to have a periodic evaluation of memory from the age of 65.
Initial manifestations can range from forgetting phone numbers to difficulty finding words in normal conversation. The main causes of going to an outpatient clinic are due to memory loss, which is why it is important to emphasize that there are several diseases that can be confused with memory problems, such as depression, thyroid problems, vitamin deficiencies, infection by certain viruses, etc.
At Saint Anton , we carry out various standardized tests to diagnose dementia and we have Neuropsychologists to specify diagnoses and provide specific treatment.
4.- Mood and cognition assessment.
With age, a series of factors of various kinds occur that can favor the appearance of depression and alterations in intellectual functions.
Hospitalization due to acute illness, environmental factors typical of hospitalization and all biological factors, among others, precipitate these processes in a phenomenon known as delirium. For this reason, from admission, an assessment of the state of mind and of their intellectual functions is carried out to establish recommendations and appropriate measures to prevent this type of complications.
5.- Evaluation of physical therapy and occupational therapy.
Physiotherapy is the cornerstone in most diseases in the elderly. On many occasions, the person’s capacity for independence and the increase in expenses derived from physical deconditioning can be seen from it.
We have the facilities of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation service for the support of the elderly, with Specialized Therapists in physical therapy and occupational therapy.
